Stoic Money Reviews: Ellen's Journey
Oct 12, 2025Hello Stoic Investors,
This week’s blog is all about Ellen, one of my students living in the UK.
Ellen has been living in London for three years, but she’s originally from Australia.
Moving to a new country can bring exciting opportunities—but it can also create a lot of headaches when it comes to managing your money and investments.
There are a lot of questions that come up:
How do you consolidate accounts across countries?
What’s the best way to handle multiple currencies?
And how do you make sense of several pension pots from different employers?
It’s not always easy to find the answers on your own, and these uncertainties can make even a solid amount of savings feel overwhelming.
That was Ellen’s situation:
She had money in different currencies and countries, along with several pension pots from past jobs. She knew she could manage it smarter—but didn’t know where to start.
That’s when Ellen decided to join our 1-1 Coaching Program, seeking support to finally get clarity and take control of her finances.
We started by looking at her accounts across countries.
Even small fees, exchange rates, and multiple accounts can quietly reduce your savings, so we worked on consolidating some accounts and deciding which currency to hold where.
This made her everyday finances easier to manage and reduced unnecessary costs.
We also automated her savings, so the right amount goes into the right place each month without her having to think about it.
Then we tackled her pension pots.
Many people don’t realize that old pensions can be left to grow—or sometimes consolidated—but the rules vary by country.
For Ellen, we reviewed each pension’s fees, investment options, and tax implications. By aligning them carefully, she now has a single long-term strategy that maximizes growth while keeping things simple.
Finally, we built a long-term wealth plan that accounts for multiple currencies, different accounts, and her personal goals.
Ellen now has a clear picture of where every pound, dollar, and euro is, and she feels in control of her financial future for the first time in years.
Ellen’s journey is a reminder that every financial situation is unique and complex in its own way—but no matter how complicated it seems, there is always a way to find the right solution.
